A very nicely constructed and attractive German violin made by Otto Goetze in Markneukirchen, Saxony . The one piece back, with some wear induced by the maker, reveals a rich golden ground; the sides of similarly flamed maple; the top plate of fine spruce with closely spaced reed lines ate centre, growing a little wider towards the flanks

Goetze/ Götz was a large family of violin makers spanning several generations and this early 20^th century period in Markneukirchen history produced a number of first class makers who were able to make export quality instruments for the world market. This lovely violin was made for the famous firm of William Lewis & Son in Chicago in 1914.

It has a responsive, bright sound, nice and even, with good volume and carrying power; comfortable in the hand and easy to play. It is fitted up our Master standard with Evah Pirazzi strings. This violin would be suitable for the advancing or advanced student.
